
CNN Money has produced a neat interactive table, which ranks countries’ top marginal tax rates against other OECD nations. You can see from the below graphic that Australia ranks in the middle in terms of both top marginal tax rate and the income at which the top rate kicks in. It’s also interesting to note that our Trans-Tasman cousin, New Zealand, has a significantly lower top marginal tax rate (i.e. 33%), but that it kicks in at a low $46,900 only.
