The Hansoning mushrooms, at The Australian:
As One Nation’s popularity grows in the wake of its federal election success, party bosses have confirmed they are in discussions with former Newman government MPs in a bid to win a swag of seats and the balance of power in a hung Queensland parliament.
Recent polls have shown soaring support for Pauline Hanson’s party across the state with the threat already destabilising the LNP as the party also grapples with the threat of a possible early election.
LNP president Gary Spence was yesterday forced to again rule out a demerger between the Liberal and Nationals wings after Attorney-General George Brandis was caught flagging that possibility as a result of One Nation’s soaring popularity and the reintroduction of compulsory preferential voting.
…One Nation’s state and national secretary, Jim Savage, told The Australian almost 30 candidates had been endorsed so far and 30 more could be endorsed in coming months.
…Mr Savage said the party would not run in a seat unless it could secure a good candidate.
“In 1998 we had members elected who turned out to be disappointing.
“That’s not going to happen again.”
No? At the ABC:
One Nation’s Pauline Hanson has demanded to meet with fellow senator Rod Culleton this morning to discuss a letter he wrote that prompted a referral to the Queensland police chief.
Senator Hanson took the opportunity last night to remind Senator Culleton of her leadership position after he failed to attend a meeting at her office Tuesday evening to explain his actions in writing a letter that Queensland’s Chief Magistrate said may be seen as “threatening a judicial officer”.
Ray Rinaudo raised concerns that the contents of the letter Senator Culleton wrote to a Cairns magistrate could be seen as attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Queensland Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath on Tuesday said Judge Rinaudo had informed her of the matter, and she had asked the state’s Police Commissioner to look into the Senator’s actions.
I’m not sure this will even do them any harm. This movement is all about revolution against insiders and elites so a few legal stoushes with both will probably help.
One thing is certain. With the waffling globalist Do-nothing Malcolm at the helm, The Hansoning will enjoy an ongoing bull market.
