Coal exports rebound in May after Cyclone Debbie

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released trade data for the month of May, with Australia’s trade surplus rising to $2,471 million from $90 million (revised) in April.

In seasonally adjusted terms, exports jumped $2,578 million (9%) to $32,781 million in May, whereas imports rose by $197 million (1%) to $30,310 million. Exports rebounded after the effects of Cyclone Debbie dissipated.
