Suburban Rail Loop exposes Labor hypocrisy

In 2015, the newly elected Victorian Labor Government tore up the contract to build the East-West Link, with Premier Dan Andrews declaring “we will never again see a situation where a government, too embarrassed to submit a business case to Infrastructure Australia, lies, deceives and misleads all Victorians on infrastructure priorities”.

Seven years on and we have Dan Andrews “too embarrassed to submit a business case to Infrastructure Australia” regarding his government’s $120 billion Suburban Rail Loop, and in turn lying, deceiving and misleading “all Victorians on infrastructure priorities”.

That’s right, the Suburban Rail Loop – a 90km orbital rail line between Cheltenham and Werribee – is Victoria’s biggest ever infrastructure project that has been universally slammed by transport experts. And it is yet to be examined by Infrastructure Australia, despite the Albanese Government also blindly committing billions to the project.
