US navy surrounds Solomons

News sources are indicating that the US is expected to sign strategic treaties with Papua New Guinea and Micronesia next week.

Papua New Guinea’s prime minister, Jamas Marape, said on Tuesday that two security agreements, one on defence cooperation and the other on marine surveillance, will be inked.

Marape stated that his government would release more information on the security agreements on Thursday. They are expected to give the US military full access to PNG maritime routes and airspace. Manus Island is already developing into a military stronghold for the allies.

Marape’s remark came as US presidential envoy Joseph Yun announced that the US and Micronesia have decided to renew their Cofa strategic pact.

There is late-breaking news that the trip to PNG and Australia has been canceled owing to the X-date debacle. Presumably the deals will be signed by subordinates.

It is nice work from the White House as it surrounds China’s upstart dictatorship in the Solomons.
