On Thursday, I reported that the Andrews Victorian Government had grown the state’s public housing stock by only 74 dwellings in four years amid a 45% increase in the social housing waiting list.
Victoria also has the lowest proportion of social housing in Australia at 3% of all dwellings. The National average is 4.2%, and even this is low by international standards.
The driver of the state’s housing crisis is extreme immigration, combined with a lack of government investment in social and public housing.
