The 2023 Intergenerational Report (IGR) projects that Australia’s population will balloon by 13.5 million people over the next 39 years to 40.5 million:

If this projection came to fruition, Australia would add the equivalent of another Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane worth of population in only 39 years.
The IGR’s bullish population projection is based on endless high net overseas migration of 235,000 per year into eternity:

This endless extreme immigration would see Sydney’s and Melbourne’s populations balloon to a projected 8.4 million and 9.5 million, respectively:

Policymakers, the media, and lobbyists are constantly telling us that this extreme immigration is necessary to maintain Australia’s high standard of living.
Yet, the empirical evidence shows that living standards are eroding daily as housing becomes smaller and more expensive and infrastructure becomes increasingly overburdened and congested.
The latest example of our demise comes courtesy of 9News, which reported that “potholes and poor conditions are eating up Victorian roads”, with the RACV accusing the broke state government of failing to fund maintenance:
Former Treasury economist Stephen Anthony accurately summed up Victoria’s predicament as follows:
“Victoria is on a suicide mission to record borrowing, just as global interest rates are about to hit 5%”.
“Potholes can’t get filled, emergency departments can’t afford clean linen, primary schools can’t fix heaters”.
“Things are about to get very ugly”.
The situation is similar in New South Wales. NRMA reports that “the state’s 127 councils have reported a combined backlog of funding of over $2.8 billion if they are to maintain their local roads to a safe standard”…
“Most councils – particularly regional councils – lack the revenue streams to meet this increasingly burdensome commitment”.
What hope is there of catering to an additional 13.5 million people—the equivalent of adding another Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane—when our governments cannot even supply basic infrastructure and services to the current population?
We cannot afford the “Big Australia” that our tone-deaf political leaders will force upon us.
