Master Builders Australia CEO Denita Wawn has hit back at claims that the Morrison Government’s HomeBuilder stimulus contributed to the housing crisis by diverting construction capacity into renovations rather than new homes.
Wawn asserted that rather than stimulus, a chronic undersupply was to blame for the rise in rental inflation.
“The federal government had a difficult job of keeping the economy afloat with targeted stimulus measures while keeping people safe during a period of uncertainty”, Wawn said.
