The Greens have cancelled the King:

Greens deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi says she will sit out today’s parliamentary reception for King Charles and Queen Camilla, and that she hopes the royal tour is their last visit to Australia.

Faruqi says Labor’s move to ditch plans for a new republic referendum is a failure.

Once a Republican myself, I am now a firm Monarchist.

The last thing Australia needs is to hand the keys of the Constitution to cancel culture.

Postcolonial and postmodern thought need to account for the history that produced them. Without good old Anglospheric liberalism, there would be no room for challenges to personal or other forms of truth.

However well-intentioned, cancelling opposing thought is despotism and only reaffirms the need for a historical connection with liberal powers.

Otherwise, we risk living under the kinds of despotic systems that dog nations like Pakistan or define nations like China.

God save the King!
