The Victorian government has embarked on an authoritarian plan to seize control of planning from local governments and create 50 activity zones earmarked for high-density apartments.
These activity zones will include wealthy areas, such as Brighton, Armadale, Glenferrie, Glen Iris, Malvern, and Toorak.
They will be rezoned to allow the building of high-rise apartment complexes of 10 to 20 storeys near train and tram stations, as well as “gentler, scaled” height limits within 800 metres of train stations.
