Australia’s population growth still out of control

Last month, I mentioned that the latest net permanent and long-term arrivals data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed record net arrivals in 2024.

Net permanent & long-term arrivals

As presented above, there were 393,874 net arrivals in the first nine months of 2024, nearly 1,300 more than the previous year’s record arrivals and almost 128,000 more than the same period in 2019.

While net arrivals have declined since March compared to the previous year, each month in 2024 has been higher than in 2019.
