American golden age eclipses Aussie dark age

This morning, Crikey sneers at Trump 2.0.

“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump declared in his 29-minute address. “From this moment on, America’s decline is over.” The president’s speech was littered with phrases such as “a revolution of common sense” and “drill, baby, drill” as he announced he would declare an emergency at the US-Mexico border, designate cartels as foreign terrorist organisations, proclaim a national energy emergency and plant an American flag on Mars (no prizes for guessing which tech billionaire in the room gave a thumbs-up to that).

There are two messages here worth noting.

First, in what position is any Aussie political media to criticise America’s new president? Our own politics is more disastrous than America’s.

The lack of division here is the problem. There is no opposition to the living standards crushing orthodoxy of an Australian dark age that has been running for more than a decade.

Second, the outcome of the dark age consensus is a dramatic national decline.

The inventory is self-evident.

While Trump constrains immigration to boost American wages and prevent crush loading, Canberra uses Third World mass immigration to annihilate wages and smash infrastructure.

While Trump cuts taxes, Australians are paying the highest rates in living memory to Canberra.

While Trump declares a national emergency around energy (with the cheapest gas prices in the world), Australia readies LNG imports to raise the price 700% from historical levels.

While Trump boosts American meritocracy, Australia promotes substandard everywhere.

While Trump slashes red tape and public waste, Canberra sinks deeper into a cesspit of graft.

While Trump diversifies from China and repatriates critical supply chains, Australia becomes ever more dependent.

While Trump protects democracy by suppressing China, Australia crawls on its knees to Beijing.

While Trump liberates free speech, Australia cancels itself from existence.

There is no mystery why America is booming and Australia is busting.

Despite whatever flaws the Trump platform has, and there are many, any objective assessment of it versus the vested interests grovelling of the Canberra unity ticket is disastrous not for America but for us.
