Norway is Europe’s leading producer of oil and gas with an output of more than 4 million barrels per day.

Commercial drilling began in the early 1970s along the Norwegian continental shelf and now includes offshore activity in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea, and Barent Sea.

Today, Norway’s oil and gas industry is one of its most important, accounting for approximately 20% of total GDP.
