With the federal election campaign in full swing and voters heading to the polls on Saturday 3 May, the first batch of opinion polling has Labor leading the Coalition and Anthony Albanese ahead of Peter Dutton as preferred prime minister.
According to a Resolve Political Monitor poll conducted by Nine newspapers, Albanese leads Dutton by 42% to 33% in terms of who Australians would want as prime minister.

With preferences assigned as they were in the 2022 election, the survey showed Labor with a slight 51-49 two-party advantage.
